NEWS RELEASE:  Asylum Avenue Traffic Update
For Immediate Release:  Thursday, June 22, 2004.

ASYLUM AVENUE UPDATE:  TWO WAY TRAFFIC  BETWEEN COGSWELL AND ELIZABETH STREETS TO REMAIN.

(Hartford) - The City of Hartford is operating Asylum Avenue in a two way traffic pattern, however, Traffic Division Commander Captain Michael Fallon asks the public, in an effort to enhance public safety, to be sure their cars are removed from the no parking zones during the posted rush hour times.   Hartford Police continue to ticket and tow cars that are illegally parked on Asylum Avenue during the rush hour no-parking period, between 7:00 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 6 p.m.

Since the beginning of two way traffic on Asylum Avenue, the HPD has tagged and towed over 100 vehicles.  Motorists are charged $67.00 in towing charges and receive a $33 ticket for violating the no-parking zone.

Again, the HPD Traffic Division, in the interest of public safety, asks the community's support in adhering to no-parking zone postings.
