NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE TO CONDUCT CITIZEN'S ACADEMY; APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MAY 7, 2004. (Hartford) - Acting Hartford Chief of Police Mark Pawlina announced today that beginning April 1, 2004, the Hartford Police Department will begin accepting applications from citizens interested in attending the new Hartford Police Department Citizen's Academy. "The intent of the HPD Citizen's Academy is to educate citizens to the operation and process of the Hartford Police Department, city government, and criminal justice system," stated Chief Pawlina. "Of additional benefit is the enormous opportunity a Citizens Academy creates for the men and women of our department to gain valuable knowledge and insight from our community as to their needs and concerns." The HPD Citizen's Academy is a twelve (12) week program scheduled to start on June 9, 2004 and end August 25, 2004. Classes will be held every Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the HPD Police Academy located at 101 Pearl Street, Hartford. Application deadline is Friday, May 7, 2004.
