NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release: Wednesday, January 14, 2004 Hartford Police Seeking Witnesses on Clay Street Homicide (Hartford) - Hartford Police are seeking information and/or witnesses to a homicide which occurred at approximately 11:59 p.m. on Clay Street in Hartford on Tuesday, January 13, 2004. HPD Major Crimes Division is asking anyone with information about this homicide to contact Detective Robert Davis at (860) 527-6300, extension 5116. On the above date and time on a report of a person shot, HPD Patrol Division Units responded to a call from 20 Nelson Street. Upon arrival, responding units located a male victim on Clay Street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was immediately transported via ambulance to St. Francis Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead at 12:51 a.m. The Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes and Evidentiary Services Divisions began an immediate investigation into the incident. Prior to meeting with the Department's Major Crimes Division concerning the investigation, Hartford Interim Police Chief Mark Pawlina was at the crime scene and visited the victim's family at the Hospital. The victim's identity has not been released pending fingerprint identification and notification of family members. This is the city's second (2) homicide of 2004. Since January 1, 2004, Hartford Police have arrested three murder suspects: Everton Gardner, wanted for the murder of Ed Coletosh; Brian Ebron, a suspect in the Shamari Greene homicide; and Michael Kendall, wanted by East Hartford Police for Three (3) Counts of Murder, Two (2) Counts of Capital Felony Murder, and Arson.
