NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE OFFER HOMELESS TRANSPORT TO SHELTER IN FRIGID WEATHER
(Hartford) - In light of a new wave of frigid weather expected in the Hartford area, Assistant Chief of Police Kevin Jones, Chief of Operations for the Hartford Police Department, has ordered HPD Officers to check areas where homeless people may seek shelter outside and offer them transport to a shelter. Assistant Chief Jones has ordered periodic checks of abandoned buildings and highway overpasses, known areas frequented by the homeless seeking shelter, and any persons located should be assisted and/or transported to a shelter. "Every effort should be made to assist the homeless in seeking refuge from the extreme cold in order to prevent weather related injuries and loss of life," stated Assistant Chief Jones.
