HPD VICE & NARCOTICS DETECTIVES HIT THREE "HOT SPOTS"; MAKE TWELVE ARRESTS.

(Hartford) - On May 24, 2004, Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Vice and Narcotics Division conducted investigations into three areas designated as "Hot Spots" based on information of illegal drug activity obtained from area residents. 

At 11:35 a.m., on Monday, May 24, 2004, HPD Vice and Narcotics Detectives conducted an investigation of illegal drug activity at 38 Martin Street.  As a result of the investigation, four individuals were arrested, and  five grams of crack-cocaine, seven grams of marijuana and $156.00 in U.S. Currency was seized.  Arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance was Anthony Smith, DOB 5/16/88, of 38 Martin Street, Hartford.  Also arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct were James Carter, DOB 3/9/87, of 31 Olmstead Avenue, East Hartford, Allen Tiggett, DOB 6/4/85, of 64 Vine Street, Hartford and Marlan Carter, DOB 2/17/81, of 38 Martin Street, Hartford.

On the same day, at approximately 12:30 p.m., HPD Vice and Narcotics Detectives conducted an investigation into narcotic activity in the area of 161 Martin Street.  This area of Martin Street has been designated a "Hot Spot" by area residents.  Seven arrests were made as a result of the investigation and a loaded Excam .380 caliber firearm was recovered from the scene.  Arrested and charged with Interfering with Police and Possession of a Controlled Substance was Christopher Hough, DOB 9/4/84 of 131 Martin Street, Hartford.  Charged with Criminal Trespass in the First Degree was Earl Miller, DOB 1/10/71, of No Certain Address.  Charged with Interfering With Police were:  Charles Jackson, DOB 3/19/69, of 104 Nelton Court; Frank Smith, DOB 7/30/64, of 203 Clark Street; Tiffany Jenkins, DOB 9/24/86, of 442 Barbour Street; Theodore Wallace, DOB 3/15/85, of 20 Brookline Avenue, East Hartford, and Michael Morales, DOB 10/8/68, of 32 Stanford Street, Hartford.

Less than 45 minutes later, at approximately 1:10 p.m., on the same day, Vice and Narcotics Detectives conducted an investigation into illegal narcotics activity in the area of Platinum Communications located at 179 Barbour Street.  The area has also been designated a "Hot Spot" by area residents.  As a result of the investigation one Adam Shaw, DOB 8/12/77, of 565 Garden Street, Hartford was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Bootleg Sales of DVD's and CD's.
