NEWS RELEASE FUGITIVE WANTED FOR MURDER SURRENDERS TO HARTFORD POLICE. (Hartford) - Hartford Police today announced Ali Murphy DOB 6/25/81, of 109 Charlotte Street, Hartford, wanted by Hartford Police for the January 3, 2004 murder of Sean Wilson, surrendered to Hartford Police at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Hartford Police Headquarters, 50 Jennings Road. Murphy is charged with Murder and remains in Police custody on a $750,000 bond pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court. Hartford Police Major Crimes Commander, Lieutenant Paul Hammick, in commenting on the apprehension of Murphy, stated, "The culmination of this investigation with the arrest of Murphy is a testament to the tenacity and diligence of our Detectives, particularly Detective Michael Sheldon, lead investigator on the case." HPD's Major Crimes Division has solved, by arrest, five of the six homicides of 2004, which is a 83% clearance rate for murders in Hartford, far above the national average. Acting Chief Mark Pawlina stated, "The Detectives in the major Crimes Division have been doing an outstanding job in developing information and solving the serious crimes that have been committed in the city.
