HPD NEIGHBORHOOD ENFORCEMENT AND STABILIZATION INITIATIVE RESULTS 100 ARRESTS.

In its continuing Hot Spot enforcement, the HPD, based on information and support from area residents,  s conducted operations in the Frog Hollow Neighborhood over a three day period from Wednesday April 28, 2004 to Friday April 30, 2004,  Members of the South District Community Response Division, North District Community Response Division, Patrol Division, Traffic Division, Vice and Narcotics Division, and Intelligence Division performed narcotics surveillance, reverse narcotics stings, stepped up motor vehicle enforcement/inspections, and enforcement of misdemeanor “Quality of Life arrests,” which resulted in a total of 100 persons arrested.

 

"This operation, similar to the many others conducted by the HPD over the past several months, is part of a comprehensive strategy designed to stabilize city neighborhoods, reduce crime, and improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods, making our streets safer for us all," stated Acting Hartford Chief of Police Mark Pawlina.  "I congratulate the entire department on this operation, for virtually every Division of the HPD contributed to its success.  And I particularly thank the community for their continued support and assistance."

 

The South and North CRD and Patrol divisions conducted reverse stings and undercover surveillance of narcotics dealers effecting arrests as follows:

 

17 arrests for    Criminal Attempt to Possess Narcotics

5 arrests for      Interfering with Police

9 arrests for      Possession Narcotics

7 arrests for      Possession Narcotics and Possession with Intent/Sale of Narcotics

5 arrests for      Possession of Controlled Substance

1 arrest for       Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell Controlled Substance

1 arrest for       Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree

9 arrests for      Public Drinking

4 arrests for      Loitering                   (City Ordinances)

6 arrests for      Misdemeanor Motor Vehicle Charges

 

Vice and Narcotics division conducted street level narcotics enforcement including the targeting of the Silver Dollar Café area on Zion St. with a reverse sting that resulted in the arrest of:

 

28 arrests for    Criminal Attempt to Possess Narcotics

6 arrests for      Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell

1 arrest for       Interfering with Police

1 arrest for       Court Mittimus
