NEWS RELEASE UPDATE FOR TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2004 HPD RECRUIT CLASS SWEARING-IN CEREMONY. (Hartford) - The following is an update, for the media, of arrangements for the Tuesday, February 17, 2004, Opening Day/Swearing-in Ceremony for new recruits beginning their training with the Hartford Police Department Training Academy. Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez and Acting Police Chief Mark Pawlina will address the recruits, followed by their swearing-in at 10:30 a.m. There are 50 recruits in the class, 40 recruits (8 of which are already Police Officers from other towns) for the Hartford Police Department, and 10 recruits being trained by the Hartford Police Academy for ten other towns: Enfield, Waterbury, Bristol, New Britain, Trumbull, Manchester, Southington, Torrington, Meriden, and Hamden. The Ceremony will be held at the Academy, 101 Pearl Street. All media should arrive by 9:45 a.m., to allow adequate staging time.
