HARTFORD PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR, CHIEFS OF POLICE AND FIRE INSTITUTE PARKING BAN IN CITY BEGINNING 4:00 P.M. TODAY.

(Hartford) - The City of Hartford will institute a Level 2 Parking Ban beginning today, Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at 4:00 p.m., through Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at 12:00 noon.  The level 2 Parking ban will be in effect throughout the city, and prohibits on all street parking.  Any vehicle parked on a city street is subject to tagging and towing.  Violation of a Level 2 Parking Ban can result in a towing fee and fine in excess of $160.00.

During a Level 2 Parking Ban, City of Hartford residents have the option to park their cars in any school parking lot.  Residents are asked to park their cars in groups so as to allow for proper plowing of the school parking lot.  Motorists parking in public school lots are responsible for the removal of their vehicle at the termination of the parking ban, and/or before the start of school.
