ACTING HARTFORD POLICE CHIEF MARK PAWLINA PROMOTES NINE (9) TO RANK OF LIEUTENANT.

(Hartford) - Acting Hartford Police Chief Mark Pawlina will promote nine (9) Sergeants to the rank of Lieutenant during a promotional ceremony to be held today, Friday, January 16, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. in the Second Floor Classroom of Hartford Police Headquarters, 50 Jennings Road, Hartford.

Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, in order of seniority, are:  Patrick Jobes, Donald Chafin, Jr., John Schmaltz, Stephen J. Miele, Clifford Smith, Jr., William Schwarz, III, Ronald Bair, Giselle Gamble, and Andrew Nelson, Sr.

Honorable Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez will speak at the ceremony.

In remarking on the promotions, Chief Pawlina stated, "It is my expectation that these newly promoted Lieutenants will establish greater accountability within the department of all personnel, and will also further our efforts to establish greater partnerships between the department and the community we serve.  They will be instrumental in achieving both these goals.  I have full confidence that they will be able to accomplish these goals for which they will be held accountable."
