HARTFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT SEEKING NEW POLICE RECRUITS.

(Hartford) - Acting Hartford Police Chief Mark Pawlina today announced that the City of Hartford Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. 

Application should be mailed to the City of Hartford Department of Personnel, 550 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06103 (860) 543-8590.  Call the Personnel Department or visit the City of Hartford Personnel Department website at www.hartford.gov/personnel for job requirements and application procedures.  

"The Hartford Police Department is looking for individuals committed to community policing and customer service.  We are looking for those individuals who want to help their community; who want to make a difference," remarked HPD Assistant Chief Lester Mckoy, responsible for the on-going recruitment effort for the department.

Sergeant Emery Hightower, a Supervisor with the Hartford Police Academy, stated that the department's goal is to generate a minimum 1,000 applicant pool. "We also wish to encourage officers already certified to apply.  The Hartford Police Department provides the best opportunity to a new officer.  We are a full service department with opportunities smaller departments do not or cannot offer." 

The department is looking for new recruits as well as any currently certified police officer who may wish to make a change and join the Hartford Police Department.  Applicants must be 21 years of age and a United States Citizen.
