NEWS RELEASE SUSPECT, WANTED BY HARTFORD POLICE IN NUMEROUS SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES APPREHENDED IN NEW YORK CITY. (Hartford) - On Friday, April 30, 2004, Carlos Sepulveda, age 52, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, was arrested in Bronx, New York by New York Police Department Detectives. Sepulveda is wanted by the Hartford Police Department's Youth and Family Services Division as a fugitive on a total of eleven (11) charges ranging from two (2) counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, Sexual Assault in the Third Degree, Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree, two (2) counts of Unlawful Restraint in the Second Degree, and five (5) counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor. The case was originally reported in 2002, after which Hartford Police Detective Noemi Cagianello began a lengthy investigation. Sepulveda was accused of sexually assaulting, on numerous occasions, a pre-teen female family member. "The successful location of Sepulveda whereabouts was a result of constant communication and interagency cooperation between the New York City Police Department and the Hartford Police Department's Youth and Family services Division," stated Sergeant James A. Bernier, Supervisor in the HPD's Youth and Family Services Division. Sepulveda is being held as a Fugitive from Justice, awaiting extradition from New York to Connecticut, where he will be turned over to Hartford Police and charged with the above listed offenses.
