NEWS RELEASE HPD LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION INTO SIGOURNEY STREET SHOOTING. (Hartford) - At 2039 hours on Thursday, February 19, 2004, Hartford Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a shooting at 280 Sigourney Street. Upon arrival Officers discovered two (2) victims in a Dodge vehicle, each suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims, Timothy Dilman, DOB 10-23-66 and Sheila Lopez, DOB 3-6-73, both with a last known address of South Windsor, Connecticut, were immediately transported to St. Francis Hospital where they were listed in serious and stable condition, respectively. Detectives of the HPD's Major Crimes and Evidentiary Services Division arrived on the scene and an investigation was launched immediately, which revealed that the victims had been shot in the area of 401 Sigourney Street, a known "Hot Spot" of illegal drug activity. During the investigation, one of the victims admitted they had been in the area attempting to make a narcotics purchase. The suspect is described as a Black Male, medium complexion, wearing black jeans, black military type coat, in possession of a silver handgun. The investigation is on-going.
