GUN TASK FORCE INVESTIGATION AND ARREST LEADS TO SEIZURE OF LARGE AMOUNT OF CRACK COCAINE AND STOLEN FIREARM.

(Hartford) - On Wednesday, August 3rd, at approximately 11:50 p.m., members of the Hartford Police Department's Gun Task Force executed a search and seizure warrant at 1860 Main Street.  During the execution of the warrant Task Force members seized approximately 26.4 grams of crack cocaine, a Glock 19 9mm firearm loaded with ten rounds of ammunition and an extended magazine clip with 31 rounds, and $716.00 in U.S. Currency. 

Arrested and charged with stealing a firearm, criminal possession of a pistol, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell (2 counts), possession of fireworks, and risk of injury to a minor was William Tisdol, AKA William Vaught, Robert Johnson, Sean Williams, and William Johnson, DOB 10/31/74, of 1860 Main Street. 

In commenting on the Tisdol arrest, Hartford Police Chief Patrick J. Harnett said "Once again this shows the linkage between narcotics, guns and crime.  This is a significant arrest that will no doubt improve the quality of life in that neighborhood."

Tisdol, who remains in custody on $500,000, had been identified under the Project Safe Neighborhoods program and was under investigation by the Hartford Police Department's Gun Task Force, comprised of representatives the HPD, U.S. Attorney's Office, Chief State's Attorney Office, U.S. Marshall's Office, U.S. Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The Project Safe Neighborhoods Initiative is aimed at reducing gun violence, deterring illegal possession of guns, and improving the safety of Connecticut residents. Participants in the initiative include community members and organizations as well as federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
