NEWS RELEASE HPD YOUTH SERVICES MAKES ARRESTS IN TWO JUVENILE SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES. (Hartford) - Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Youth Services Division this week made arrests in two separate investigations involving Sexual Assault and Risk of Injury to a Minor. On February 28, 2004, Detective Sabine Nyenhuis uncovered an unreported sexual assault incident while conducting an unrelated sexual assault investigation. As a result of Detective Nyenhuis' findings and investigation, an arrest warrant was issued on February 25, 2004 by the Hartford Police Department for Gary Hayes, (DOB 11/16/58) of no certain address. On February 28, 2004, Detective Nyenhuis located Gary Hayes at 159 Sheldon Street, Hartford, at approximately 1120 hours. Hayes was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault in the First Degree, Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, and Risk of Injury to a Minor. On March 3, 2004, Detective Robert Davis, Jr., of the HPD's Youth Services Division executed an arrest warrant for Kevon Brown, (DOB 7/1/86) of 186 Sigourney Street, Hartford. Brown turned himself into Hartford Police Headquarters where he was charged with Sexual Assault in the First Degree and Risk of Injury to a Minor. Brown's Bond was set at $300,000, with arraignment in Hartford Superior Court scheduled for March 4, 2004. This is an on-going investigation.
