(Hartford) - On Thursday, November 22, 2007 at approximately 4:15pm Hartford Police, Fire and EMS were contacted regarding a serious motor vehicle crash in the area of Park Street and Pope Park Highway.  Responding units found a 1993 Honda Civic with extensive damage occupied by a single male operator.  The vehicle came to rest on the sidewalk in front of number 1400 Park Street.  The occupant, later identified as Karmar Mohammed, 19 years old of Hartford, was presumed dead at the scene by EMS.

Hartford Police Crime Scene Division responded and assumed control of the investigation.  Preliminary findings indicate that Mohammed was operating the Honda Civic West on Park Street at a high rate of speed.  Mohammed lost control of the vehicle as a result of his speed and struck a fence and fire hydrant.

Several witnesses were located and the investigation is continuing.
