HARTFORD POLICE RELEASE NAME OF HOMICIDE VICTIM

(Hartford) - Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division have identified Samuel L. Alexander, age 59, of Edgewood Street, Hartford, as the victim of a homicide that occurred on Sunday, October 23, 2007.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 21st, Hartford police responded to the vicinity of Garden and Mather Streets on a report of an injured person.  On arrival police located Mr. Alexander who was found to be unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the cheek.  Emergency medical personnel, on arrival, pronounced the victim deceased at 2:39 a.m.  The State Medical Examiner has determined Mr. Alexander died as a result of the gunshot wound.
