CRIME SOLVERS TIPLINE: 860-527-TIPS NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE ARREST BANK ROBBER
At approximately 10:00 a.m., Hartford Police responded to an active alarm of a bank robbery at People's Bank at 755 Main Street. Patrol units launched an immediate search for the suspect, described as a white male, close cropped blond hair, wearing a green tee shirt and blue jeans. After viewing surveillance photos provided to Hartford police by 755 Main Street Security and obtaining information that the suspect was last seen entering the parking garage at 55 Pearl Street from 755 Main Street Security Officer Saleem Samuda, HPD Sergeant Garth Perri conducted a search of the garage and where he apprehended the suspect, Brian Booth, hiding in a stairwell. He was taken into police custody without incident. During an interview conducted by detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division, Booth confessed to this morning's People's Bank robbery, to the Thursday, September 6, 2007 Citizen's Bank Robbery on Trumbull Street in Hartford, and to the Friday, September 7, 2007, New Alliance Bank robbery in East Hartford. Hartford police are working with East Hartford police officials on the investigation. Booth has been charged with third degree robbery in connection with the People's Bank incident. He remains in custody on $100,000 pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court. A further arrest warrant is anticipated by Hartford police in connection with the Citizen's Bank robbery.
