STABBING VICTIM DIES;
WOMAN CHARGED WITH MURDER

(Hartford) - Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division have secured an arrest warrant for Mayra Rodriguez, of 217 Wethersfield Avenue, Hartford, charging her with the murder of Gilberto Sanchez, 1/17/49,  also of 217 Wethersfield Avenue.  Sanchez died on Friday, May 23, 2008, of a knife wound he sustained on May 14th in the apartment he shared with Rodriguez.  Rodriguez was charged with assault in the first degree by Hartford Police at that time.  See related press release of May 15, 2008, on Rodriguez' arrest, including mugshot.

Mayra Rodriguez' bond was set at $1 million bond pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court.

This is the 9th homicide in the City of Hartford year to date.  Five of the nine have been solved by arrest.
