HARTFORD POLICE IDENTIFY HOMICIDE VICTIM AS JOEL HIGHTOWER

(Hartford) - Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division have confirmed the identity of the  victim of a June 21st, 2008, fatal shooting as Joel Hightower, 6/20/1988, of 22 Congress Street, Hartford.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the vicinity of a parking lot at 200 Church Street.  Upon arrival officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.  One of the victims, Joel Hightower, 20, was transported to Saint Francis Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The second victim received treatment for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the left leg at Hartford Hospital. 

A suspect is described as a 6 ' Black male wearing a white t-shirt, red hat, jeans, in possession of a silver handgun.
