CRIMES (274637) enter TIP716 and message NEWS RELEASE Hartford Police Make Arrest in Connection with August 2nd Carjacking
On August 2nd, at approximately 9:20 p.m., police responded to a reported carjacking. The victim stated that while at the location of 1327 Main Street a Black male brandished a handgun approached his vehicle and demanded his money, jewelry and vehicle, a red 1995 Chevy Tahoe. The victim complied and the suspect, Pertillar, who then fled north on Main Street in the victim's vehicle. An immediate investigation was launched by HPD Major Crimes Detectives Danny Mui and John Koch, and on August 14th, 2008, sufficient evidence was developed to secure an arrest warrant for Trent Pertillar charging him with carjacking, criminal use of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, and robbery in the first degree. Pertillar, who is a known member of the Sandz Bridge street gang, was arrested on August 16th by Detective Mui and remains in custody on $600,000 bond. In commenting on Pertillar's
arrest, Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts said, "The quick turnaround
of this investigation and arrest of Pertillar is a testament to the hard
work and dedication of Detectives Danny Mui and John Koch. As a result
of their efforts a dangerous individual is locked up and no longer able to
commit violent acts in our city."
