HPD Vice and Narcotics Continues Pressure on Illegal Drug Activity in City.
(Hartford) – In two separate investigations, spanning two days, HPD Vice and Narcotics Detectives continued its crackdown on illegal drug activity in Hartford neighborhoods. The investigations, focusing on Enfield/Mather Streets, Garden/Capen Streets, Summit Street and Lisbon Street, netted seven (7) arrests, 128 bags of heroin, 85 grams of marijuana, 15 grams of crack cocaine, 41 bags of cocaine, a loaded 380 caliber pistol, additional ammunition, narcotics specific packaging materials and cutting agents.
Arrested in the Lisbon Street investigation were Edgardo Segarra, DOB 3-26-66, of 22 Lisbon Street, charged with Possession of narcotics, PWITS/Narcotics, Sale within 1500 feet of a School, Possession of a Controlled Substance, PWITS/Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Firearm; Juana Rivera, DOB 10-23-73, of 911 Asylum Avenue, charged with Conspiracy/Possession of Narcotics, and Conspiracy/Possession of a Controlled Substance; and Gloria Pereiro, DOB 7-18-70, of 53 Preston Street, charged with Criminal Attempt to Possess a Controlled Substance. In commenting on the Lisbon Street investigation and its results, Sergeant Neville A. Brooks, Narcotics Unit Supervisor, stated, “Detectives Caraballo, Lollar and Santiago exhibited exemplary diligence in the performance of their duties in this investigation. Also, invaluable assistance was also provided by the HPD K9 Team, Officer Samuda and his partner Zeus.”
Arrested in the Enfield/Mather Street, Garden/Capen Street/ and Summit Street investigation were Andre Newton, DOB 6-14-68 of Westbourne Parkway, charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, possession within 1500 of a school and PWITS; Juan Lopez, DOB 8-1-73, of 100 Prospect Avenue, charged with Possession of Narcotics, Possession within 1500 feet of a School and PWITS; Sunshine Ortiz, DOB 9-21-83, of 1 Summit Street, charged with Possession of Narcotics, Possession within 1500 feet of a School, and PWITS; and Joey Nestre, DOB 5-28-85, charged with Possession of Narcotics, Possession within 1500 feet of a School and PWITS. In commenting this investigation, Supervisor Neville A. Brooks again stated, “this was an excellent investigation with successful results by Detectives Allen, Caraballo and Lollar.”
