HPD Officer Injured in Struggle with Drug Dealer.
(Hartford) – Hartford South District Community Response Division Officer Seth Condon was injured in the pursuit and struggle with a drug dealer in Hartford’s South End on Wednesday, December 3, 2003.
At approximately 7 p.m., Officer Condon, patrolling the area of 49 Bond Street in Hartford, observed the suspect engaged in a narcotics transaction. Upon approaching, the suspect attempted to flee. Officer Condon pursued the suspect and a struggle ensued. Assisting HPD Patrol Division Units arrived on the scene and the suspect was apprehended. Officer Condon was transported to Hartford Hospital where he was treated and released with a separated/dislocated shoulder injury.
Arrested for Assaulting a Police Officer, Interfering With Police, Criminal Trespass, and Criminal Attempt to Sell Narcotics was Omesha Huntley, DOB 8-15-78, of 944 Asylum Avenue, Hartford.
South District Commander, Captain Mark Pawlina, in commenting on the incident, stated, “Officer Condon is an outstanding, proactive Officer, very much concerned with complaints from the community of illegal drug activity in the area. He is out there on a daily basis attempting to impact known hot spots. This is a real loss to the force at this time, and we all hope he will be fully recovered and back to soon.”
