Hartford Police Working with West Hartford Police Recover Stolen Vehicle, Make Arrest
(Hartford) – At approximately 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2003, Hartford Police Officers responded to a call from 637 Park Street, The Greek Café, on a carjacking complaint. The victim informed police that outside of the café he was approached and attacked by two suspects. One of the suspects brandished a large handgun, striking the victim several times. The suspects went through the victim’s pockets, took his car keys, and fled in the victim’s car. Officers canvassed the area and a description of the suspects and stolen vehicle was sent to surrounding towns.
West Hartford Police spotted the vehicle on Hillcrest Avenue in West Hartford. Hartford Police Officers responded to assist and the lone occupant was taken into custody. A .357 revolver was seized from the recovered vehicle.
Arrested was Luis Alicea, DOB 3/23/72, of 160 Hillcrest Avenue, West Hartford, and charged with Larceny in the First Degree, Criminal use of a Firearm, and Assault in the Second Degree with a Firearm. A second suspect is still a large, described as an Hispanic Male, approximately 5’7”, wearing a black hoodie, with a street name “Cage”. Hartford Police is asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the HPD confidential tip line, 525-GUNS. Any information will be kept in the strictest of confidence.
In commenting on the seizure of the .357, recovery of the vehicle, and arrest of Alicea, Lieutenant Daryl K. Roberts, area Commander, stated this was an “excellent job by Hartford and West Hartford Police Departments.”
