Hartford Police Narcotics Unit Execute Search and Seizure at 78-80 Hamilton Street; Two arrests made.

 

(Hartford) – On Tuesday, November 4, 2003, at approximately 6:15 p.m., detectives of the Narcotics Unit executed a Search and Seizure Warrant at 78-80 Hamilton Street, apartment 1-W.  As a result of the investigation and search, detectives seized a large amount of .22-caliber ammunition, 9mm ammunition and a small amount of heroin.  During the execution of the search, Detective Felix Ortiz sustained a sprained left ankle.  Detective Ortiz was treated and released from Hartford Hospital.

 

Arrested and charged with Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotics within 1,500’ of a school, and Interfering with police was Gilberto Garcia, DOB 12-14-82, of 78 Hamilton Street.  Garcia was also served with outstanding warrants on file for additional Narcotic charges and Violation of Probation.

 

Also arrested for Sale of Narcotics, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Narcotics within 1,500 ‘ of a school, was Edwin Navarro, DOB 8-18-84, of no certain address (NCA).

 

Narcotics Unit Supervisor, Sergeant Lance D. Sigersmith, commended detectives Ortiz and Edward Foster for an excellent job in this investigation.

 

Hartford Police ask the community for its support by calling the HPD’s confidential tip line, 525-GUNS or the Vice and Narcotics Squad at 527-7300, extension 5298 with any information that might aid detectives in their investigations of illegal drug driven activity.  All information will be kept in the strictest of confidence.
