Hartford Police Patrol and Youth Services Division Conducting Investigation of Thwarted Abduction.

 

(Hartford) – Hartford Police are looking for a “person of interest” relating to an alleged thwarted abduction of a 12 year old near Burr School in Hartford.  Police were dispatched to the Burr School on the report of a kidnapping of a child on Tuesday, November 4, 2003, at approximately 8:15 a.m.  The victim juvenile said she was walking in the area of Franklin Avenue and Barker Street when a man exited his vehicle and approached her.  The man brought the victim to the vehicle and refused to allow her to leave.  The man drove the vehicle for a period of time, then allowed the victim to leave the vehicle in the area of Meadow Street, Hartford.  The victim ran to Burr School and notified school administrators who notified the Hartford Police Department.

 

Officers from the HPD’s Patrol Division and detectives from the Youth Services Division began an investigation.  The investigation is on going.

 

The victim’s name is not released due to her age.

 

The “person of interest” wanted by HPD police is described as a Black Male, approximately 30 years old, unknown height, approximately 250 lbs, short black hair, dark complexion, wearing a blue or black tee shirt, black shorts, and black sandals.  The suspect may have lacerations to his fingers.  Suspect is clean-shaven, and was described as having short fingernails.  The suspect’s vehicle was described as a Maroon or Burgundy large vehicle, with brown leather interior.  No other information is available.

 

Hartford Police ask the community for its support by calling the HPD’s Patrol Division (860) 527-7300 extension 5602, or the Youth and Family Division at (860) 527-7300 extension 5650, with any information that might aid detectives in this investigation. All information will be kept in the strictest of confidence.
