HPD North CRD and Patrol Capture One Suspect; Second Suspect Dies from Injuries Sustained in Jump from Window.
(Hartford) - On Friday, November 21, 2003, at approximately 1753 hours, members of the Hartford Police Department’s North Community Response and Patrol Divisions responded to the area of 57 Cabot Street on a report of several people dealing narcotics. Upon arrival officers observed two suspects flee the area and run into a building at 67 Cabot Street. The suspects led the officers on a foot pursuit into a second floor apartment whereupon one suspect was apprehended. In an attempt to escape, the second suspect entered the bathroom of the apartment, broke the window, and proceeded to jump out of the window. The suspect sustained serious injuries and was transported to St. Francis Hospital via ambulance where he was subsequently pronounced dead at 1844 hours. The deceased suspect was identified as Desmond Gordan, age 20, of Hartford.
The Hartford Police Department’s Major Crimes Division responded to the scene and assisted in the investigation. As a result of the incident, Troy Coleman, DOB 7-19-86, of East Hartford, was charged with Burglary in the second degree and Interfering with Police.
