HPD CONTINUES ITS CRACKDOWN ON CRIME IN CITY IN FIVE SEPARATE OPERATIONS.

            (Hartford) – In five (5) separate operations throughout the city over the past two days, the Hartford Police Department continued its crackdown on crime in the city, netting eleven arrests, shutting down a drug factory, seizing over 300 grams of narcotics/controlled substances, confiscating two handguns, scales and drug packaging materials, and approximately $1,000 in U.S. Currency.

            Detectives of the Vice and Narcotics Division along with Officer of the North Community Response Division executed Search and Seizure Warrants at 368 Laurel Street, 1994 Main Street, Apartment 11, 59 Belden Street, Apt. C-2, 59 Belden Street, Apt. B0-2, and at 3329 Main Street, Hartford. 

            Arrested in the December 16, 2003, 12 Noon Search and Seizure at 368 Laurel Street, was Dorothy Currie, DOB 2-5-80, charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession With Intent to Sell (PWITS), PWITS of a Controlled Substance, and PWITS Within 1,500 feet of a School.  Seized in the operation were 16 bags of marijuana, packaging materials, a scale and $55 in U.S. Currency.

            Arrested in the December 16, 2003, 5:30 p.m. Search and Seizure at 1994 Main Street, was Margaret Guillery, DOB 9-21-62, of 1994 Main Street, charged with Possession of Narcotics, PWITS, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Operating a Drug Factory.  K-9 Officer Zeus assisted in the execution Search Warrant.  Seized in the operation were 142 bags of heroin, 7.5 grams of Crack Cocaine, and approximately $500.00 in U.S. Currency.

            Arrested in the December 17, 2003, 2:00 p.m. Search and Seizure at 59 Belden Street, Apartment C-2, was Yvette Brooks, DOB 4-1-55 and Jemeah Copeland, DOB 8-22-79, both of 59 Belden Street, Apartment C-2, and both charged with Possession of Narcotics, PWITS, PWITS Within 1,500 feet of a School and Risk of Injury to a Minor.  Also arrested in this incident were Craig Council, DOB 2-27-73, of 59 Belden Street, Apartment C-2; Curtis Watkins, DOB 3-26-82 of 32 Florence Street, 2nd Floor, and Troy Thomas, DOB 6-29-75, of 40 Alden Street, Apartment 3-C, all of Hartford and all charged with Possession of Narcotics, PWITS, Sale of Narcotics in a School Zone, Destruction of Evidence, and Interfering with a Search Warrant.  Seized during the operation were two 9 mm handguns, ammunition, 81 grams of Crack Cocaine, and $227 in U.S. Currency.

            Arrested in the December 17, 2003, 2:00 p.m. Search and Seizure at 59 Belden Street, Apartment B-2, was Tarhena Boykin, DOB 1-23-80, of 145 Cleveland Avenue, charged with Interfering with a Search Warrant, and Semonae Richardson, DOB 5-17-80, of 59 Belden Street, Apartment B-2, charged with Possession of Narcotics, PWITS, and Sale of Narcotics in a School Zone.  Seized in the operation were grams of Crack Cocaine, a Digital Scale, and $65 in U.S. Currency.

            Arrested in the December 17, 2003, 9:50 p.m. investigation of illegal narcotic activity in the area of Main and Tower Streets was Gregory Jackson, DOB 3-10-74, of 37 Garven Street, East Hartford, charged with Possession of a restricted Substance, PWITS, and PWITS within 1,500 feet of a School.  Seized in this investigation were 57 bags of a restricted substance known as “Wet” of “Illy” and $146 in U.S. Currency.

            In commenting of the plethora of activity, Major Crimes Commander Captain Catherine Perez stated, “No criminal should sleep too soundly, the next knock at the door might surprise them!”
