(Hartford) – On December 2, 2003, beginning at approximately 9 a.m., HPD Vice and Narcotics Division Detectives along with members of the North Community Response Division, conducted a reverse sting operation at the intersection of Clark and Judson Streets in the northeastern portion of the city.
The North Community Response Division had identified the adjacent housing complex, Nelton Court, as a Hot Zone location. In an effort to deter future narcotics transactions in this area, Detectives posed as drug dealers in front of 132-134 Clark Street. Individuals at this location, who were attempting to sell narcotics, as well as those attempting to purchase narcotics, were apprehended and placed under arrest. A total of fifty-three (53) arrests were made as a result of this operation.
Arrested during this operation and transported to the Major Crimes Division for debriefing were four individuals who were actively being sought by the Major Crimes Division in relating to ongoing homicide investigations. Another individual arrested was being sought by the State of Florida as a Fugitive from Justice.
The plethora of charges include Conspiracy to Possess a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Interfering with Police, Possession of Narcotics, Possession With Intent to Sell, Possession within 1500 feet of a School, and Risk of Injury.
Commenting on the third “Reverse Sting” operation in as many weeks, Vice and Narcotics Commander, Lieutenant Harold Even stated, “This operation again shows what can be achieved when you have exceptional support from the community, personnel of the Vice and Narcotics and North Community Response Division committed to this detail, and the resources dedicated to these types of operations. It is truly an extraordinary accomplishment which we believe will greatly decrease incidents of violent crimes in the area and result in an improved quality of life for its residents.”
Attached is a listing of the 53
