Hartford Police Conduct Fourth Drug Sting in as Many Weeks.
(Hartford) – On December 9, 2003, beginning at approximately 9 a.m., Hartford Police Vice and Narcotics Division Detectives conducted a reverse sting operation at the corner of Brook and Fairmont Streets in Hartford, the fourth operation of its type in as many weeks. The Hot Spot was a known location for illegal drug activity. In an effort to deter future narcotics transactions in this area, Detectives posing as drug dealers arrested individuals attempting to sell and purchase narcotics. Approximately 38 arrests were made as a result of this operation. The plethora of charges include Conspiracy to Possess a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Interfering with Police, Possession of Narcotics, Possession With Intent to Sell, Possession within 1500 feet of a School, and Prostitution. Commenting on the fourth investigation targeting drug driven crime in the city in as many weeks, Vice and Narcotics Commander, Lieutenant Harold Even stated, “As we’ve proven time and again, people buying or selling drugs in this city better wake up, for we are out there waiting to arrest them. Individuals fueling the illegal drug trade in this city better know that we will not let up. We intend to keep the pressure on.
